The launch calls into question Nokia’s commitment to the Symbian software

The world’s largest chip maker and the world’s largest mobile phone maker have merged operating systems to create a single platform for mobiles.
The new MeeGo platform, unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, will be used to power phones, netbooks, TVs and in-car entertainment systems.
The open-source software has been created by merging elements of Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo software.
The two firms first announced their intention to collaborate in June 2009.
Microsoft unveils Windows Phone 7′s new pinch interface
Microsoft has launched the latest version of its mobile phone operating system, called Windows Phone 7 series.
The software has a redesigned user interface and incorporates many Microsoft services such as Xbox LIVE games and the Zune music service.

Twelve of the world’s biggest phone networks – including AT&T, Orange and Telefonica – will announce their rival technology tomorrow to Apple’s App Store. The Australian government has not made contact with the activists
|
An activist group that temporarily blocked access to key Australian government websites plans to continue its cyber attacks, the BBC has learned.
The group, known as Anonymous, was protesting against the Australian government’s proposals to apply filters to the internet in the country.
A man claiming to be a representative of the group said that around 500 people were involved in the attack.

Wikileaks has provoked the dream of Iceland becoming a haven for whistle-blowing
Iceland could become a “journalism haven” if a proposal put forward by some Icelandic MPs aided by whistle-blowing website Wikileaks succeeds.

By now everyone has seen the iconic “I’m a Mac” ads with Justin Long as Mac and John Hodgman as PC. A new parody video from Take180.com copies Apple’s winning formula, but pits the new iPad against Jersey Shore’s “The Situation.”
